what I do… and why

I’m Kathy, founder of Nourished Pathways.

MY PASSION

My passion for nutrition and gut health was first awakened approximately 9 years ago, after my precious daughter was born.

She has Autism Spectrum Disorder and a rare genetic condition called Kabuki syndrome. She is a joy and a gift, and she has faced many challenges in her short life.

Dietary intervention was a game changer for her. Literally life altering. It was life altering for me too, as it prompted me to abandon a career of more than 20 years in research and statistics to study Nutritional Medicine.

SPARK JOY

My greatest joy is helping people to be as healthy and happy as they can be; especially helping people to optimise their gut health (and therefore improve a range of health conditions and psychological conditions associated with poor gut health), and helping children (and families of children) with special needs.

MY BACKGROUND

As well as being a qualified Nutritionist, I am a trained counsellor with a degree in Psychology, and a passionate writer and published author.  I have written for Australia’s leading parenting magazine (Practical Parenting) and for Source Kids magazine. I have been a staff blogger for Mommies of Miracles, which is the world’s largest virtual support group for mothers of children with special needs, and for the peekabookabuki blog.

CONFIDENCE

I leverage my skills in research and statistics to ensure that the nutritional advice I provide is evidence-based, rather than simply the latest “fad” diet.

I attend regular professional development events to ensure that my knowledge is continually growing, so that clients can have the benefit of the most recent knowledge in the field.

FORMAL QUALIFICATIONS

I am an accredited member of the Australian Traditional Medicine Society (ATMS) and am a registered provider (Nutrition) for a number of private health funds.
